This photo series documents a rhino dehorning operation in South Africa—a controversial but life-saving conservation method used to protect rhinos from poaching. I had the opportunity to join a dedicated team of conservationists, veterinarians, and volunteers to capture the emotional and methodical process from start to finish.

As a documentary-style photographer, I aim to preserve the complexity of real-world issues with honesty and depth. This story reveals the intersection of human intervention, environmental urgency, and the fragile balance of species survival.

Whether rhino dehorning is the ultimate answer, I’m still not sure—but I know something must be done to protect these endangered animals before it’s too late.
